Israel is located in the Middle East, along the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. It’s neighbours are Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, West Bank, Egypt, Gaza Strip and the Gulf of Aqaba in the Red Sea. Israel contains geographically diverse features within its relatively small area. Israel offers a plethora of historical and religious sites, beach resorts, archaeological tourism, heritage tourism and ecotourism. Israel has the highest number of museums per capita in the world. The most visited destination is Jerusalem – teh capital city and one of the oldest cities in the world. It is a holy city to the three major Abrahamic religions-Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and hosts a myriad of historical, archaeological, religious and sundry other attractions. Other tourist attractions in Israel include the Dead Sea – only here can be found mineral-rich muds, thermomineral springs and mineral-rich salty water; and the Ramon Crater - a heart shaped crater, naturally carved out by water and climate erosion.
