Honduras is located in Central America and it is bordered to the west by Guatemala, to the southwest by El Salvador, to the southeast by Nicaragua, to the south by the Pacific Ocean at the Gulf of Fonseca, and to the north by the Gulf of Honduras, a large inlet of the Caribbean Sea. Honduras can ideally be described as the unfiltered, unpackaged and unspoiled land on earth.It is a vibrant country, brimming with clear turquoise waters, lush jungles, breathtaking mountains and fascinating ancient ruins. The most attractive destination is the Mayan ruins at Copan. The ruins represent one of the greatest pre-Columbian cities in Latin America that is still in pristine condition. Honduras also offers the opportunity to see some truly remarkable wildlife. Because to the tropical temperate zones here can be seen hundreds of species of fish and lots of colorful and exotic avian creatures.
