Republic of Maldives is an island nation located in the Indian Ocean. The Maldives are composed of 1,192 islands grouped in a double chain of 26 atolls. The main atolls are very well known: Male, Baa, Faafu, Ari, Lhaviyani and Dhaalu. Each island offers snow-white beaches which give onto blindingly blue waters, all with their array of brightly colored sea creatures. The tropical paradise has over 87 resort islands, each of them offers a range of water sport facilities, like snorkelling, jet skiing, tours with the glass-bottomed boat, night fishing and diving – the most interesting underwater sites are Banana Reef, Fish Head and Wreck of the Maldives Victory. The most beautiful sights include the Grand Friday Mosque, the Presidential Palace, the National Museum in the Sultan Park, the Singapore Bazaar and ofcourse the capital Male – a place where you can find out about the local history and culture.
