Bangladesh is located in South Asia between India and Burma, to the south is bordered by the Bay of Bengal. Bangladesh is small in area but rich in heritage with numerous historical and archeological sites. It’s famous fot it’s  longest natural unbroken sea beach – 580km. In 1983 Bangladesh ratified the World Heritage Convention, it has two Cultural World Heritage Sites:

  • Historic Mosque City of Bagerhat (1985);
  • Ruins of the Buddhist Vihara at Paharpur (1985);

and one Natural World Heritage Site:

  • The Sundarbans (1997);

Bangladesh has also five properties on the World Heritage Tentative List.

  • Mahansthangarh and its Environs (1999);
  • The Lalmai-Mainamati Group of monuments (1999);
  • Lalbagh Fort (1999);
  • Halud Vihara (1999);
  • Jaggadala Vihara (1999).
