The Republic of Tunisia is the northernmost country in Africa. It is an Arab Maghreb country and is bordered by Algeria to the west, Libya to the southeast, and the Mediterranean Sea to the north and east. The south of the country is composed of the Sahara desert , with much of the remainder consisting of particularly fertile soil and 1,300 kilometres of coastline. The small size of the country, its deep historical heritage, and the splendid beauty of its varied landscape, all combine to make Tunisia a perfect holiday destination. Some of the attractions which are a must see include: Bulla Regia - a Roman city renowned for its semi-subterranean houses belonging to the Hadrianic period, Cap Bon – a place where Punic and Roman ruins and Kelibia Fortress can be explored, Carthage - the ancient where the Roman amphitheater, the baths, cisterns, cathedrals, and museums can be seen and Djerba - the largest island on the northern end of Tunisia.
